The Eye Wash Box Duo is an excellent wall-mounted station for use in connection with the storage and handling of chemicals. The box contains 500 ml of pH-neutral solution (blue bottle) and 500 ml of eye wash (green bottle).
If Renifoam’s grease-dissolving chemicals splash into the eyes, the first step is to rinse with pH Neutral. pH Neutral is a solution containing a 4.9% sterile phosphate buffer that quickly neutralizes acids and bases. Our chemicals have a pH of around 13. The eye’s natural pH is around 7.4. Rinsing with pH Neutral for about 2 minutes neutralizes the pH level to normal conditions. It is very important to do this immediately after a splash injury to prevent the base from penetrating the cornea. After rinsing with pH Neutral, the eyes should also be rinsed with regular eye wash until a doctor or hospital can be reached.
NOTE! Both pH Neutral and eye wash are absolutely essential to have on hand in the environment that chimney sweeps work in—neither one can replace the other!
